Liebherr is an international manufacturer of plant and machinery for the construction industry as well as a producer of a wide range of white goods. Liebherr Great Britain supports this activity in the UK and Ireland has a number of office locations around the country.
Oyster Studios were asked to develop a printed newsletter to keep Liebherr staff updated on the latest corporate developments and employee news. The aim was to create a channel that employees could participate in, gain an understanding of the company as a whole and at the same time foster as sense of unity across the different office and depot locations. The project required developing an evolution of the existing corporate style in order to visually emphasise the importance of the content and project a unique presentation that stood apart from other corporate communications. This stand out helped reassure staff that it was their newsletter and not a corporate message vehicle.
The original design process included the development of concept boards as well as a choice of names for the publication. The team selected InSite as the preferred solution, with its combined reference to ‘news’ and to working on ‘site’.
Through the use of call outs, bullets and engaging graphics the business pages look both professional and attractive, while a more friendly, informal magazine style is used to share ‘people news’ and information on new starters, babies and charity fundraising activity.
By keeping the publication heavily employee-focussed the staff have taken ownership and readily supply news and content for inclusion.
