Challenge
Moog Controls GmbH wanted to strengthen its position in the global marine market and create a clearer way of communicating the breadth of its motion control expertise ahead of SMM 2026 in Hamburg.
The challenge was not the strength of the offer, but its complexity. Moog works across electrohydraulic, electromechanical and electrohydrostatic technologies, alongside slip rings and rotary solutions, serving applications from steering and stabilisation to cranes, winches and propulsion-related systems.
Previous activity had tended to focus heavily on individual products and technologies. Oyster’s role was to step back, understand the solutions, the market and the different customer audiences, then create a clearer proposition that explained not simply what Moog supplied, but the problems it could help marine customers solve.
Solution
Oyster developed a new message platform built around the proposition:
Efficient motion control for demanding marine environments
This gave Moog a focused position rooted in its core expertise, while connecting its technologies to customer benefits including reduced hydraulic oil volume, lower weight, noise and system complexity, improved efficiency and long-life performance.
We then developed different conversation routes for system integrators, OEMs, operators, technical audiences and senior commercial decision-makers, allowing the same core proposition to be adapted to priorities ranging from integration and certification to uptime, lifecycle value and serviceability.
The platform became the foundation for a completely reworked marine brochure, a new exhibition stand for SMM and a 90-second animated presentation created for a large-format vertical LED wall. As a value-added element, Oyster also produced a multilingual briefing guide to help Moog’s international sales teams apply the new messaging consistently in customer conversations.
Result
Moog arrived at SMM Hamburg with more than a new exhibition presence. It had a clearly defined marine proposition and a consistent way of communicating it across marketing, sales and customer engagement.
The new platform connected Moog’s technologies with the different commercial and technical priorities of its audiences, while giving the brochure, exhibition environment, digital content and sales conversations a single strategic foundation.
Most importantly, the work was designed to extend beyond SMM, giving Moog a message platform that can continue to support future marine communications, sales activity and events.
Rather than creating a one-off exhibition campaign, Oyster developed a strategic platform that Moog can continue to apply across future marine communications, sales activity, events and content.

The exhibition went very well, we met our objectives in terms of visits, customer meetings, number of leads. The atmosphere was great and fun, the teamwork was fantastic. In terms of booth design and layout – all went well too.
The combination of the moving exhibits and the vertical screen was a very successful combination, teasing and attracting attention. The same with the word cloud, a great help for starting a conversation with visitors. So all in all, it was very clean, well-organised and produced great results – I was very happy.
